What type of batteries do I need?

The XLR Sniffer/Sender, DMX Sniffer/Sender, NL4 Sniffer/Sender all use a 12 volt A23 type battery. You can find this battery at most stores listed as a "garage door opener" battery.

The A23 battery is used in the XLR, DMX and NL4 cable testers from SoundTools.

My XLR/DMX Sniffer/Sender has unlit LEDs when I plug into a known good cable. What is wrong?
The LED’s on my XLR Sniffer/Sender are showing all red when plugged directly into each other. Is it broken?
